Amanda Austin

Amanda Austin is an Australian Photographer, Producer and Creative Director residing in the United States and working globally.

Amanda's professional photography career spans well over a decade. Her work - ranging from personal studies in portraiture and landscape to commercial fashion, portraiture and advertising - can be easily recognised and defined by a unique sensitivity to the world and an ability to draw a sense of authenticity, intimacy and spontaneity from her subjects.

Travelling the world with an old film camera gave Amanda’s work a freedom to develop before professional photography become her calling. Amanda’s unique vision was fast recognised and her first curated folio of travel and portraiture won a year scholarship to Photographic Imaging College, Melbourne, in 2004.

Post-studies in analogue photography and darkroom printing, motion picture and film editing, Amanda went on to technical assist and digital operate for some of Australia and the worlds leading image makers and developed her love of lighting and a formidable on-set, pre and post-production skill base.

Amanda’s unique, strongly feminine style stood out in the Australian market and instantly led to long-standing relationships with both Editorial and Advertising clients from around the world, spotlight features and media interviews and an exclusive book deal with Standard Bookstore in Osaka Japan, 2011.  Amanda's image of a Thai Nun performing a floating meditation was a finalist in the prestigious Head On Portrait prize, 2012

Amanda is the co-Founder, Editor and Creative Director of fashion, art and culture publication IRIS Magazine which launched Issue ONE, Origins in early 2017.

From portraiture, fashion, travel, creative direction, still or moving image, personal or commissioned, Amanda’s photography and work ethic continues to be driven by an authentic connection to her subjects and a genuine love of storytelling.
